Orthotics:

Orthotic fabrication is often necessary adjunct to the therapy program and plays an essential role in the rehabilitation process. There are specific hand conditions which require a detailed splint and are referred by the hand surgeon or specialist to RSGW for their fabrication. The therapists at RSGW are trained in the fabrication of custom splints, combining knowledge of surgical procedures, diseases, injuries and wound healing. They apply the reasoning skills needed to fabricate a detailed splint that matches the needs of the patient. There splints are custom made and cannot be purchased at a pharmacy or medical supply store.

Hand specialists, and physicians, as well as, other therapy centers will frequently refer their patients with specific splinting needs to RSGW. Many of the splints published by RSGW therapist remain the standard of care in the rehabilitation program following tendon and nerve injuries, post traumatic stiffness and arthritis.
